Fall 2023 Lantern Walk

For over a decade, TG families and friends have gathered with homemade lanterns to welcome winter's darkness, celebrate the changing seasons and connect as a community – both locally and nationwide.

This beautiful tradition serves as the culmination of our Fall season and provides us all with joyful anticipation of our Winter season to come. The event itself is designed to help children (and all of us) learn to embrace change as we connect to the cycles and rhythm of nature. When we are in community with the natural world and with one another, we have the hope, strength and light to thrive through the winter to come and all days.

By design, Lantern Walk is for EVERYONE.
Please register below.

When:

Nov 19th, 4:30 PM

Where:

The woods at the rear of Plymouth Township Park

What To Bring:

Please bring one or more lantern(s) per group. If you are currently without a lantern, you can turn an empty jar into a gorgeous lantern! Paper bags and cardboard boxes with holes punched in them are also great DIY options. No matter which light you bring, battery operated tea lights will be provided at the event to make your lantern(s) glow.

What to expect at the event:

We will all gather in a community circle to sing songs and light lanterns, then enjoy an outdoor, lantern-lit walk through the 3/4 mile loop in the woods. You can download our Lantern Walk song sheet to familiarize yourself with the songs we’ll sing.

Photos

We will take photos at the event and look forward to sharing them within our Tinkergarten community. Please share your photos too using #Tinkergarten and #TGLanternWalk.

The More the Merrier

Please know that ALL are welcome to join in this special tradition. Encourage neighbors and friends to register too. Or, just come!

The History:

This year will be our eleventh annual Tinkergarten Lantern Walk, and tens of thousands of families will gather in hundreds of locations across the country to celebrate light, nature and community. This is a thrill at any age, and it gives us a chance to embrace the shifts in our environment as we prepare for winter’s arrival. We are so grateful to have the opportunity to host such a special and intimate event.

You will receive a confirmation of your registration, but you will NOT receive any further communication about this event (reminders, etc.) Please mark your calendars right away and reach out if you have any questions.

If you are at the event, but are having trouble finding us, please call/text Leanne at 248 514 9472.
